With Shopgate, PayPal can be enabled for the marketplaces listed below:

Adding PayPal
To set up PayPal for your app, follow these steps:
- Log in to your account in the Shopgate Admin.
- Click Settings in the menu and then select Payment Methods.
- Click the search field for selecting a payment method, type PayPal and then select it from the list.
- In the pop-up window that opens, click Approve now. You will then be redirected to the PayPal website.
- There, click Grant Permission so that PayPal accepts your customers' payments via the app from now on. You will then be returned to your payment method settings in the Shopgate Admin.
PayPal is now offered as a payment method in your shop, but it is not active yet.
Payment method settings
To enable payments via PayPal, you need to make the following settings.
- Go back to the "Payment Methods" page. PayPal should already be listed among your payment methods. Click the Config button.
- On the page that opens, you can set up additional charges, define where you want the PayPal Express button to be shown, and select your transaction type. Then click Save to apply the changes.
Important: Make sure you have selected Sale as the transaction type if you want to receive your customers' payments immediately.

Once you have saved the settings, PayPal is active as a payment method in your app.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are the shipping costs for PayPal incorrect?
The Shopgate plugin API can only detect shipping information during the checkout process. For the PayPal Express button, therefore select the option "Only in cart". If your customers buy via the PayPal Express button on the product detail page, the shipping costs cannot be calculated reliably.
Why am I not receiving payments for PayPal orders?
Under Transaction type, select the option Sale to receive your payments before shipping. If Authorization was selected before, you need to authorize the payments for previous orders manually in your backend.
What should I do if my PayPal login details have been updated?
If you have recently updated the login details of your PayPal account, you need to authorize your PayPal account for Shopgate again.
To do this, remove PayPal from your list of payment methods and then add it again. To remove PayPal from your list, follow the steps in the section "Payment method settings" and then click the Delete button. To find out how to add PayPal again, see the section "Adding PayPal".
