App Rating Pop-Up
Would you like to improve your app's rating in the app stores? Then this article is just right for you.

Overview
According to appradar.com, 79% of users read the ratings in the app stores before downloading an app. Increasing the rating from 3 to 4 stars can increase this app store conversion by up to 92%. As many positive ratings as possible therefore contribute to a higher download rate of your app and also improve the organic ranking of the app in the app stores.
To increase the number of positive ratings, Shopgate offers an app rating pop-up. It is automatically active for all apps, but we can customize it individually for your app.
When do I ask for a rating?
First of all, you should approach your customers actively. If you do not actively ask customers for feedback, they often only leave a rating after a bad experience. This distorts the image of your app in the app stores.
The best moment to ask is after a positive experience with the app and, ideally, without interrupting an ongoing purchase. This makes one of the best moments right after an order has been completed successfully. This is exactly where we have activated our app rating pop-up for all apps by default. By default, this prompt appears exactly twice, but this can be customized. We can also configure the minimum time between prompts for you.
On request, we can also add further prompts and adjust the existing logic. The following options are available:
- Prompt after a successful order
- Prompt after the app has been opened x times (e.g. after the app has been used 10 times)
- Prompt after a time interval of x (e.g. 30 days after the first start of the app)

How does the prompt work?
The prompt looks like the familiar pop-ups of the respective operating system. Customers are asked whether they like the app. If they tap "Yes", they are taken to the rating page in the respective app store. If they tap "No", the window closes.

How am I informed about negative feedback?
To keep negative feedback from reaching the app store in the first place, we ask for it separately. If a customer taps "No" when asked for a rating, an optional process can be triggered. This process is not active by default.
In this process, customers who answer "No" are asked whether they would like to give feedback. If they answer "Yes", we can store an individual link for you through which the feedback is collected. This can be an email or a form, for example.

Tracking
The prompt can be tracked via Google Analytics, provided customers have allowed tracking in the app. You can find more information here.
