Stripe

This article gives you all the information you need to set up the payment provider Stripe for your shopping app.

At Shopgate, you can activate Stripe with the following payment method for the marketplaces listed below: 

  Credit card

Required information 

Have the following information ready before you start setting up Stripe as a payment method at Shopgate.

Account information Description
Live Secret Key

This is the key to your Stripe live system. It is needed to connect your Stripe account to Shopgate.
Live Publishable Key

This key lets you use the additional settings for the payment method. It is required, even if you don't use them.
Transaction type

Choose a transaction type for receiving payments.
Supported credit card types
 The credit card types you have configured at Stripe.

Adding Stripe as a payment method

To make Stripe available as a payment method in your app, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Shopgate admin.
  2. Go to the menu item Settings › Payment Methods.

  3. Go to the "Add payment method" section and start typing Stripe into the search field. Then click the payment method to select it.

  4. In the pop-up window that opens, enter your Stripe account information. Select the same credit card types that you have set up for your Stripe account. Your account information is validated automatically.

  5. You can also set up additional settings for the payment method: free shipping, additional charges/discount and a min/max amount for the cart value. If you want to use one or more of these features, activate them and enter the amount you want.

  6. Save your entries.

That's it! Stripe is now set up as your payment provider for credit cards.

Where can I find the required information?

You can find both the Live Secret Key and the Live Publishable Key in your Stripe account. Simply log in to your Stripe account and open the Account Settings.

In the pop-up window, select the "API Keys" menu item, where the keys you need are shown. Copy each key and paste it into the corresponding field on the Stripe configuration page in your Shopgate admin (step 4 of the previous section "Adding Stripe as a payment method").
