Setting up Deal of the Day

The Deal of the Day (DotD) feature is an effective way to promote limited time offers in your store. The feature is active for a set period of time, grabbing the attention of your customers. If needed, you can configure the offers to start at a later time rather than immediately. You can also set up an unlimited number of Deal of the Day offers - either for the same time period or for different times.

This feature can be particularly effective during major seasonal events such as Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, or sales promotions. For example, you can highlight your Black Friday sales by configuring a DotD event for a number of consecutive days. Promotions like these can pique the curiosity of your visitors and keep them coming back for more. Typically, people not only look at the DotD, but also browse the rest of the assortment.

The DotD is displayed to your customers with a countdown on the mobile website and apps. Combined with push messaging, it is also possible to inform potential shoppers in advance of the start of a sale.


Basic Settings

  1. Log into your Shopgate admin area.
  2. Navigate to Marketing and select Deal of the Day.


On the Deal of the Day page, you will find the Basic settings option.

  1. In the line next to "Title", you can name your DotD event. By default, a sample title is displayed for you to apply. If you want a different title, simply type it in the text box.
  2. Select whether or not you want the Stock count to be displayed during deal of the day.
  3. Click Save to save the basic settings. 



Create an Action

  1. To create a new DotD Action, click Create new.
  2. A pop-up window will open. Configure the deal with a future date/time, product number, offer price (optional), and push notification (optional). Then click Save to save your entries.
    info-circleIf you don't enter a time, the time range of your Shopping Promotion will automatically be set to midnight to 11:59pm.
    You can also customize the sending time of associated push messages. Pushes can be sent no earlier than 2 hours before a promotion starts and no later than 2 hours before it ends. If this field is left blank, push messages will be sent at the start of the live shopping event.
  3. An overview shows you all the settings you have made. DotD events that are currently active are listed as "Scheduled promotions", while those that have ended are listed as "Expired promotions". If you want to cancel a promotion, click the Edit button. This will take you to the promotion settings page. Once there, simply click Delete.

  4. Your Deal of the Day has been successfully created.


Widget Setup

To ensure that the Deal of the Day is displayed in your apps, all you need to do is add a widget:

  1. In your Shopgate admin area, go to Design → Pages.
  2. In the Smartphone and Tablet tabs, select the "Deal of the day" widget from the drop-down menu under Add a new widget. 7487793924764
  3. In the pop-up window that opens, click Add and the widget will be applied.

  4. By saving your settings, you have successfully created a DotD event for your apps. If the entry does not appear in the overview immediately, please clear your cache. How does this work?
