Contactless Commerce | Notifications

Overview

With our notification module you can send notifications to your customers via SMS or Push. You can use notifications to send scheduled marketing campaigns or transactional notifications (an example of which is, sending a message to your customers to keep them up-to-date about their order status).

Notifications consists of two components: Templates & Campaigns.

With Templates you can prepare the content that you want to send out, and with Campaigns you can define when and to which customers the notification should be sent. The usage of templates is optional, as you can also define the content of the notification directly when creating a Campaign. It makes sense to use templates if you want to reuse them for multiple campaigns in the future.

Templates

You can access the templates via Shopgate AdminMarketingTemplates.

If you open Templates for the first time, you will see that a few templates do already exist. These are the default templates for the transactional Push & SMS that are automatically created during creation of your shop. You can configure these templates and change the content completely to your liking, or even delete the templates if you do not want to use them.

With templates alone you can not send out notifications to the customers. A template always has to be used in conjunction with campaign.

Creating a new Template

mceclip0.png

When creating a new Template, you can select a "Trigger" for when this Template should be used.

Use "Schedule/Manual" to send a notification out to a group of customers at a specific Date & Time, or triggered via API. Use the "Event" trigger is for transactional notifications that are being sent out to individual users based on a specific event (e.g. if the order status changed). There are different events that are available for this method.

Based on the selected event and trigger combination there are different variables available to use inside your message. For example, "Schedule/Manual" Templates, you have customer data available (First Name, Last Name etc).

If you select an event, in addition to the customer data variables, you also have data related to the event available for use in your message. The available data depends on the Event, e.g. for "Sales order added" you have different data available than for "Fulfillment order status updated".

Here are all the fields that you can configure for a template.

Field Description Example
Name Internal name for the template. Choose something descriptive, so that you can find the template easily later when configuring campaigns. Order Complete Review Promt
Code Internal identifier for the template. Is used e.g. when accessing the templates via API. OrderCompleteReviewPromt
Status Active/Inactive. Can be used to prepare templates or temporarily disabling them. Active
Trigger "Schedule / Manual" or "Event". See explanation above. Schedule / Manual
Event Type Only available if Trigger "Event" is selected. See explanation above. Sales order added
Description Optional. Internal description of this template. Notification upon completed order & request review
Message Title The title of the message sent to the customer. Will be displayed different in Push & SMS (see preview) Order picked up! 🎉 👏

we hope you enjoy your new goods! Please leave a review and help build our community!

Campaigns

Use campaigns to schedule and send out notifications to your customers.

You can access the Campaigns via Shopgate AdminMarketingCampaigns.

In the Campaigns Overview you see the list of all campaigns including details like if the campaign is currently active or not, or how many actual notifications to customers were sent out by a campaign.

Similar to the templates, when you open Campaigns for the first time, you will see that a few campaigns do already exist. These are the default campaigns for the transactional Push & SMS that are automatically created with the creation of your shop. Feel free to edit, deactivate or even delete these campaigns if you do not want to use them.

Creating a new Campaign

mceclip5.png

As with templates, when you create a new notification you have to select a "Trigger" that defines when the notification will be sent out.

The trigger "Schedule/Manual" is used e.g. for Marketing Notifications that will be sent out to the customers at a specific Date & Time, or if you want to use the Shopgate API to send the Notifications.

The trigger "Event" is used for transactional notifications that are being sent out to individual users based on a specific event (e.g. if the order status changed). There are different Events that are available.

Here are the fields that can be configured for a campaign:

Field Description Example
