App security is crucial for app developers and owners, particularly in an industry such as retail where financial information is constantly exchanged. Android apps ensure that third parties cannot access your secure app by using "keys."
Each Android app is signed with a key to ensure that updates always have the same signature--that is, they're always changed by the same party. So far, the security of this app signature key has been in the app merchant's own hands. However, Google is now offering help.
Google Play App Signing is responsible for storing and managing your app signature key in Google's trusted security infrastructure. Read on for information on registering your app for this service.
How do I register my App?
First, log in to your Google Play Console account and click the name of your app under "All applications."
On the left side, navigate to App releases.
Once the page opens, click the blue button labeled Edit Release.
You will now be taken to Google Play App Signing. To register your app, click Continue.
A pop-up window with the "Google Play App Signing Terms of Services" will open. Please accept these.
That's it! After it is successfully set up, Google Play App Signing will appear as "enabled."
If you have any questions or problems when enabling Google Play App Signing, you can always contact Shopgate Support for assistance.
